CPR & First Aid Courses
CPR Level C is about 3-4 hr Course. It includes how to contact emergency medical services, rescue breathing, how to treat choking and minor injuries.
Prerequisite : None.
AT-A-GLANCE
Demonstrate the ability to recognize when and how to call emergency medical services (EMS).
Demonstrate primary assessment including hazards and ABCs of an unconscious, breathing victim.
Demonstrate rescue breathing with a victim of the candidate's choice or with a manikin.a. Simulate the appearance and treatment of a conscious victim with an obstructed airway
b. Simulate the treatment of an unconscious victim with an obstructed airway.
Demonstrate primary assessment and emergency care for a victim in shock.
Demonstrate primary assessment and appropriate care for external bleeding.
2. EMERGENCY FIRST AID AND CPR LEVEL B
Who should do this Course:
Emergency First Aid is for people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries.
Skills include: victim assessment, CPR, choking and what to do for external bleeding, heart attack, stroke wounds and burns. Includes CPR-B certification.
The Course is recognized by Ontario’s Workplace Safety & Insurance Board.
The first aid program is not restricted to aquatic candidates. You can use the Lifesaving Society's first aid awards to train non-aquatic staff (camp, playground, maintenance, etc.) and the general public.

Principles of universal precautions, including barrier devices, hand washing, and use of gloves.
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the ABC priorities.
Primary assessment of a victim including Scene survey, Level of consciousness, Airway, Breathing, Circulation checks, Major bleeding, Mechanism of injury,.
Secondary assessment of a victim including, Vital signs , Head-to-toe examination
One-rescuer adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a manikin and how to use an AED.
Simulated treatment of Conscious adult, child or infant with an obstructed airway.
Management and direction of bystanders to activate EMS.
Recognition and care of a victim suffering from respiratory emergencies like Hyperventilation, Asthma, Shock, Heart attack or angina, External bleeding, Stroke / transient ischemic attack
Recognition and care of a victim suffering from Abdominal injury, Burn injuries and Facial injurie
Management of an unconscious/fainted victim
3. STANDARD FIRST AID AND CPR LEVEL C
Standard First Aid is about 16 hrs course normally conducted over two days. It provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. Standard First Aid incorporates all of Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid including aspects like legal implications of first aid treatment, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, chest injuries, and medical emergencies. The Course includes CPR-C certification.
